Meet Our Kids

This scholarship has been a major contribution to my success in my college career. Each year, this scholarship has helped me focus on my academics and the ability to take advantage of the various opportunities that I have come across throughout college.

Kids’ Chance of Ohio has given me the opportunity to focus on being a scholar student, focus on getting involved on campus and simply becoming the best version of myself!

At a young age, my father introduced me to what would become my passion—working on cars. Sharing that love with him was the highlight of my childhood. He worked as a union electrician with Local 212, but after a serious injury, his health and mobility declined. The activities we once enjoyed—restoring vehicles, car shows, the racetrack, and fishing slowly faded away. I noticed a change in his mood and energy as we lost that shared connection.

After high school, I joined my university’s Zips Racing Team and later the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Telling my dad about my work on the race car and my involvement in NSBE would brighten his day—it brought back a spark I hadn’t seen in years. Since then, I’ve become president of NSBE, completed two engineering co-ops, and maintained a GPA over 3.0.

I owe much of my success to scholarships like Kids’ Chance of Ohio. Their support has relieved financial stress and allowed me to focus on becoming the man—and engineer—I strive to be.
